How to remove washing machine transit bolts

Transit bolts hold the drum in place during delivery and must be removed before the first wash.

10 minutesEasy

Never run the machine with transit bolts in — it can wreck the drum and bearings.

What you'll need

  • Spanner (usually supplied)

Step by step

  1. 1

Locate the bolts on the back of the machine (usually 3–4).

  2. 2

Unscrew them with the spanner and pull them out.

  3. 3

Fit the plastic caps supplied into the holes.

  4. 4

Keep the bolts in case you need to move the machine.
